Using VoiceThread in the Classroom

What is VoiceThread?


VoiceThread is a powerful tool that allows students to use the 4C's in 21st Century learning (collaboration, communication, community and critical thinking). In addition to using technology and research, students can interact in online discussions and comments practicing their writing and speaking skills. In the end, publicizing their presentations offers them a more global audience, increased motivation to learn, and a greater sense of pride in their work.

Some examples:
Students were asked to add a multimedia presentation to their research papers that were assigned in their 9th grade Social Studies class. The theme of all papers was The Holocaust and students selected different aspects of the subject. They were asked to create a documentary-type multimedia presentation complete with recorded comments, interviews and typed reviews of images. Using VoiceThread software, here are just a few examples of what students created:
